Annual Great TV auction for public television

The Greater Milwaukee APA Chapter for many years have supported our friends at Channel 10 and donated our time in many areas including answering phones during the pledge drive and volunteering at the Great TV Auction.

The Annual Great TV auction for public television is April 26 – May 4, 2013.  Volunteering at the Great TV Auction is fun, rewarding and a great way to network, make new friends and give back to the community.   The Greater Milwaukee APA will be volunteering on May 1, 6:30 to close.

Training will be provided on site. Breaks with refreshments and snacks are provided.   This year’s Auction theme the day we are volunteering is Sports Jerseys, T-shirts or Sweatshirts.  The auction is a casual dress environment.  Teams are welcome to wear logo identification shirts.  Comfortable shoes are recommended, like tennis shoes, flats, etc.  As a team we are welcome to join in the celebration in the MPTV One Hula of an Auction!   Yes, the Great TV Auction has a following in the community with donors, buyers and Volunteers.  Highlights for this year’s auction include the featured artists for 2013: Donna Tronca, George Kovach, Arnold Alaniz and Jeff LaDow.  New this year will be the Birdhouse contest.  As a team, we are invited to sign up members, employees, spouses and family members over age 14 to answer phones and take bids during the shift you selected.   Individuals are always welcome to come again later in the week on their own. If you are interested in volunteering for the Greater Milwaukee APA evening on May 1st please contact Michelle Ganzer at ganzerclan@wi.rr.com by     April 4, 2013.  If you are interested in volunteering other days or evenings please contact Pam Behling at  volunteermptv@aol.com or call (414) 297-8009.

Volunteer Parking is available:  The parking lot is located on Burleigh, just east of I45.  The Address is 11100 W Burleigh.  Note, the area is quiet and the Wauwatosa Police Department has added circulating more frequently through this lot April 26 – May 4 during the auction.  A shuttle bus will take you to and from the parking lot to the Auction building.   Additional details for the shuttle and parking will be provided when you sign up for volunteering.    Thank you for considering to volunteer!

Annual Teddy Bear Patrol Campaign

Milwaukee, Wis. —News radio 620 WTMJ will again lead the annual Teddy Bear Patrol campaign, sponsored by Water Stone Bank and All American Window & Door. Since 1993, the Teddy Bear Patrol campaign has collected and distributed 95,000 new teddy bears to local law enforcement and fire officials. These officials give the bears to children who are faced with crisis (abuse, neglect, fire, accidents, etc.) to help comfort them in traumatic situations.

From the 2011 Campaign – “Our annual Teddy Bear Patrol is one more way we’re combining the strong reach of our station with the generosity of our listeners to make a positive difference in our community,” said Executive Vice President Television & Radio Operations Steve Wexler. “This project is one of our favorites because it helps first responders comfort children when they need it most. I’m grateful to our sponsors and our audience for supporting this endeavor.”

Please consider donating a Teddy Bear on behalf of the Greater Milwaukee Chapter APA to the Annual Teddy Bear Patrol Campaign.
