Greater Milwaukee Chapter of the APA Board
Members
Committees - Each committee
provides an update to the Board meeting once a month to determine
agenda items for the Chapter meeting. Each committee has the
opportunity to provide updates to be posted on the Greater
Milwaukee website as well as to the Newsletter / Public Relations
Committee to be communicated to the National APA.
- Hospitality /
Welcome Committee
- This committee greets members to the
monthly meetings. This committee ensures in advance of
the monthly meetings that all meal, beverage, and paper
products will be available for the meeting. Past
example: For some meetings, the host company may provide
everything for the meeting and others, the Welcome Committee
would organize among the members the necessary menu items and
paper products.
- CPP / FPC Study
Group Committee
- This committee organizes the
following details for a successful CPP/FPC study group:
volunteer teachers, students, locations, dates for the Spring
and Fall CPP/FPC Group. This committee would communicate
with the National APA so materials could be received for the
study group. After the CPP/FPC this committee follows up
with the students who took the exam to find out how their
experience went. This committee will report to National
APA any necessary information in regards to the exam site.
The committee chair will maintain a list of participants who
passed the exam to announce at the next monthly meeting, post
on the Greater Milwaukee Website, and maintain names for the
June meeting certificate presentation.
- Educational
Committee
- This committee's key role is to
educate to the general public the following topics: About the
Greater Milwaukee Chapter, Payroll, and Tax issues. This
committee would prepare communication for the chapter members
about upcoming Educational seminars, conferences, or
web-casts. This information would be posted on the
Greater Milwaukee website as well as communicated through the
Membership Secretary. This committee prepares
communication pertaining to Educational Grants available for
members to participate. This committee nominates members
that may be good candidates for receiving National Grants.
Once committee member would also participate in the National
Payroll Week committee to build on the educational role of
National Payroll Week. Past examples of duties include:
- Organizing an opportunity to speak
at schools and vendor events.
- Created flyers, which included
educational information to be posted at public places.
- Created or gathered communications
for the Chapter members on upcoming educational events
outside of our Chapter.
- Provided input to Chapter members
on recommended reference guides & publications.
- Membership
Committee
- This committee is a reference point
for outside individuals that may be interested in joining our
chapter. In addition this committee pursues
opportunities to build our membership. In the past, this
was done by mailings and vendor events. This committee
maintains the chapter benefit flyer and membership flyer to be
used for distribution at events that perceptive members may
attend. This information is also on the Greater
Milwaukee Website.
- Statewide
Conference Committee
- This committee organizes the
bi-annual statewide conference. The committee would be
broken into subcommittees to tackle all aspects of the
statewide conference. Past conference materials are
turned over to each new committee. This committee
prepares a flyer one year in advance of the conference to be
distributed at the off-year Statewide Conference. This
information is also on the Greater Milwaukee Website.
- Newsletter /
Public Relations Committee
- This committee prepares and collects
articles for the Greater Milwaukee website as well as the
National APA. Past articles ranged from a President
letter, recipes, announcements, poems, interviews, highlights
of monthly speakers, and quotes. The chair of this
committee would work closely with the Website Committee
chairperson.
- Community
Involvement Committee
- This committee organizes events
within the Greater Milwaukee chapter to benefit the community.
Past examples have included a toy collection for Children's
Hospital, Phonation with Public Television Channel 10/36,
Items for US Troops, and money for the Hunger Task Force.
This committee would research and present to the Board, the
event details. Upon Board approval the committee would
prepare communication for the chapter members and work
directly with the non-for-profit organization. After the
event this committee would provide the Newsletter/Public
Relations Committee a summary of the event with photos.
- Web Site
Committee
- This committee works with the
third-party web company to keep the Greater Milwaukee APA
website up to date. This committee also works with all
committees, officers, and board members to receive information
to be posted on the website. This committee makes
suggestions to improve the website layout. Annually this
committee submits to the National APA, the necessary
information to participate in the web site contest.
Annually this committee contacts web sponsors for renewal.
- NPW Committee
- This committee organizes the annual
National Payroll Week event for the Greater Milwaukee chapter.
This committee would be broken down into subcommittees to
tackle all aspects of the event and communication. One
member of this committee would participate in the National APA
conference call for National Payroll Week. This
committee prepares communication to the Chapter members on how
to celebrate National Payroll Week within their companies.
This communication is also stored on the Greater Milwaukee
website. Committee members from the Educational,
Community, and Government Committees would participate in this
committee. This committee collects from members the
activities held for National Payroll Week. This
committee completes the National APA documents to participate
in the NPW Chapter Contest & Photo Contest.
- Chapter of
the Year Organizing Committee
- This committee completes and submits
annually the Chapter of the Year questionnaire to National APA.
The committee collects information throughout the chapter year
to prepare for the submission. Each committee would
provide to the Chapter of the Year committee, documents or
materials that would assist in this submission.
- Chapter
Pictorial Organizing Committee
- This committee prepares and submits
annually the Chapter Pictorial to National APA. The
committee collects information throughout the Chapter year to
prepare for the submission. Each committee would provide
to the Chapter Pictorial committee, documents or materials
that would assist in this submission.
- Government
Liaison / Government Committee
- This committee communicates to
Chapter members any legislative and regulatory changes/news.
The government Liaison would communicate at each monthly
meeting changes/news of interest to the members. The
committee would also solicit government agencies for NPW
proclamations. This committee would provide the NPW
Committee appropriate information for the NPW chapter contest
submission. This committee would provide information to
be posted to the Greater Milwaukee website and members via the
Chapter Membership Secretary.
